4 Weeks!

Today is the 4 week mark! I can't believe how fast time has flown by. Mannix is getting so big and changing more and more everyday.

He is finally getting down a little sleep pattern..being fussy from about 12 am till 2 am and sleeping till about 6 or 7. It was a little rough for a while because he would only fall asleep on my chest or in the swing. I didn't like that because I felt like he wasn't stable in the swing..and as for him sleeping on my chest I was scared that I would roll and he would slip off of me. Thank God nothing like that happened though!

He is starting to make little noises, smiling, and following us around with his eyes. He also has started sucking his thumb (well only 3 times in the past week).

As for breastfeeding..I'm so proud that I have also made it to the 4 week mark. It is a real accomplishment, especially since I was having some problems with Mannix latching on for a while. And yes, it still kind of hurts (only at the beginning) but I always remind myself of the wonderful benefits that come along with breastfeeding.

Day 5

Mannix is 5 days old today!

I just love when he looks at me like this! He just stares and stares and I think of how this little baby depends so much on Isidro and I. We are in absolute love with Mannix and every little thing he does. I can't wait to see what the future holds for our family.

He's Here!

Mannix Logan Garza
He was born May 1, 2009 at 4:45 pm. He weighed 7 lbs even and is 20.5 inches long! He is the most adorable person on this planet! We are so in love with our baby boy :D

I was induced on Wednesday April 29, 2009 because my AFI was low. I was put on Petossin at 12:00 midnight and didnt dilate much for the first 24 hours. They broke my bag of water on Friday, May 1st at 7:00 a.m. and I immediatly started dilating and contracting (very hard) I must say that I applaud any woman that delivers without Epidural! I really tried my best but I couldn't stand the pain. Well, by 3:00 pm I was dilated to a 10 and I started pushing at around 4:15. I was determined to get Mannix out fast so I could meet him and the nurse said "this usually takes anywhere from an hour to two hours" so I was prepared for the long haul. After just a few minutes of pushing I was ready to deliver! They called the Doctor and he came to the hospital and boom! Mannix was here at 4:45 pm :) Let me tell you, Isidro is the best labor partner EVER! He was a trooper throughout the whole thing!

Motherhood is a really wonderful feeling. You can only read and expect so much but when the time comes that he is finally here you sort of forget everything. Isidro has been by my side the whole time and I really appreciate what a wonderful father he is!

Happy Easter!

Hello! And Happy Easter :)

I hope everyone had a great and happy easter! I really wish Mannix was here to enjoy it with us.
Next Easter he will be 11 months and hopefully will be able to enjoy Easter. I can't wait to make him a little basket and help him hunt for eggs.

Baby Update!
I went to see the Doctor on Thursday and he said that Mannix is growing right on target! His weight is great and he should be a normal healthy baby by the time I deliver they also said that he is weighing a little over 5 lbs right now! Eee! Im excited :)

AND
Final good news! I am going to be induced at 38.5 weeks! That means...I have 3.5 weeks till I finally get to meet my little angel! I can't even explain to you how excited I am! Ahhh.
Mannix will soon be here and our family will be complete.

33.3

Yesterday I woke up feeling a little "off" and started getting scared. For some reason I felt like something was wrong with the baby..and I just had to see the Doctor and make sure everything was okay. It looked like my tummy shurnk and I lost five pounds out of no where!

I called to see if they could see me and they scheduled me to see the Doctor at 1:30. Well, everything is okay and his fluid level went up to a 6.4! He also managed to get a very cute snapshot of little Mannix :) I guess sometimes people get paranoid, and Im more than sure that is normal. At least I know everything is okay.

Baby Shower

So this past weekend was my baby shower! The date was March 28th, 2009 and I was 32 weeks and 6 days. I had the most amazing time ever :) I had my friends and family there to celebrate with me. I got everything I needed and more. I must admit it was one chaotic mess a couple of days before the shower, we had to change the location of the baby shower due to the other place closing down and I was admitted to the hospital. All in all..it was an amazing turn out and I couldn't have asked for more.

Presents
Actually, I  almost didn't make it to the shower. On March 21st I started getting some "cramping" and I thought it was just normal.. I went to go see the doctor that Monday and he said that it could be ligaments stretching inside and he prescribed me some Tylenol 3 and suggested I stop working, well the meds worked for that day but Tuesday night I started getting more cramping and lower back pain (uh oh!) So the following morning I called and they had me go into the office..it turns out I was contracting and my amniotic fluid index was VERY low (about a 4) the doctor became concerned and asked if I had noticed any leakage, I said no..he then checked my cervix to see if I was dilating and I was closed but 30% thinned out. He then stated that I needed to be admitted because of the AFI. So I went to eat breakfast and left to the hospital. They started treating me as if I was going into preterm labor and hooked me up to Magnesium to stop the contractions and gave me a steroid injection in case we had to deliver Mannix early. The medicine ended up making my contractions worse and they had to take me off the meds, the fluid levels went up by the next day and everything was fine :) I kept telling the nurses and the doctor that I could not miss my baby shower (that's all they heard me talk about) so they discharged me Thursday afternoon. But stated that I would need to be on "modified home rest" which means no more work, no more walking up and down my apartment staircase, and no trips to the store!

Last but not least, here is a little update on Mannix's nursery. It's not complete I just need to buy some curtains and a wall shelf to hang some paintings.
