Baby Shower

So this past weekend was my baby shower! The date was March 28th, 2009 and I was 32 weeks and 6 days. I had the most amazing time ever :) I had my friends and family there to celebrate with me. I got everything I needed and more. I must admit it was one chaotic mess a couple of days before the shower, we had to change the location of the baby shower due to the other place closing down and I was admitted to the hospital. All in all..it was an amazing turn out and I couldn't have asked for more.

Actually, I  almost didn't make it to the shower. On March 21st I started getting some "cramping" and I thought it was just normal.. I went to go see the doctor that Monday and he said that it could be ligaments stretching inside and he prescribed me some Tylenol 3 and suggested I stop working, well the meds worked for that day but Tuesday night I started getting more cramping and lower back pain (uh oh!) So the following morning I called and they had me go into the office..it turns out I was contracting and my amniotic fluid index was VERY low (about a 4) the doctor became concerned and asked if I had noticed any leakage, I said no..he then checked my cervix to see if I was dilating and I was closed but 30% thinned out. He then stated that I needed to be admitted because of the AFI. So I went to eat breakfast and left to the hospital. They started treating me as if I was going into preterm labor and hooked me up to Magnesium to stop the contractions and gave me a steroid injection in case we had to deliver Mannix early. The medicine ended up making my contractions worse and they had to take me off the meds, the fluid levels went up by the next day and everything was fine :) I kept telling the nurses and the doctor that I could not miss my baby shower (that's all they heard me talk about) so they discharged me Thursday afternoon. But stated that I would need to be on "modified home rest" which means no more work, no more walking up and down my apartment staircase, and no trips to the store!

Last but not least, here is a little update on Mannix's nursery. It's not complete I just need to buy some curtains and a wall shelf to hang some paintings.

Mannix

So, hi!
long time no type right? Well it turned out I do have Gestational Diabetes and now I must give myself insulin injections twice daily. I mean its not terrible but it does stink :( Other than that little extra bump in the road..things are cruising along quite well. As of Sunday, I have offically gained 10 lbs so far! yipee!

And yes, we have finally decided that his name will be Mannix Logan. He kicks all the time and it is just so cute (even when it hurts!) lol  OH! and as of 1 week ago he weighing in at 2 lbs 15 ounces! I cant even explain how happy I am right now, I simply adore this little baby that is in my tummy. I can't wait to see him face to face. Only 9 weeks and 4 days till he comes!

We finally got situated into our two bedroom and I started working on his little nursery already :) it is a work in progress so it might look a little bare. But I love everything that we have bought for him! Its just our taste.

I have been preparing for my baby shower as well, it will be on March 28th and his theme will be forest animals, Ill tell you it is unlike any other baby shower that I have been to..nothing traditional what-so-ever and yeah, that is just like me :) I have already finished his centerpieces, invitations and pins that people will be wearing.  I will update for sure, with how everything else is going! till next time!
